11th century. Forged iron, 3 3/4” length with medial ridged spear point with flared barbed base. Opened seam conical socket. Crisp stable excavated condition. Designed to penetrate the light textile armor of the Saracens and imbed the head causing a lethal wound, either directly from the trauma of the penetration or, later, from infection.
